The Little Boy and the Little Bird

When my son was about 10 yrs old, he came running into our house with his fist closed to show me what he had found. It was a hummingbird. We had a sunroom with glass windows on the back of our house and apparently he & his sister had left the screen door open and the hummingbird flew in, and tried to get out and hit the glass door and fell on the carpeted floor of the sunroom.

It seemed as if the hummingbird had knocked itself out when he hit the glass door. My son was so upset and thought the bird maybe dead. But, after a minute or so, the bird started to move in his hand and then his wings started to flap. We opened the glass door, and the hummingbird flew out of my sons hand and into the air.

My children are now grown with kids of their own and everytime I see a hummer at my bird feeder, I remember that little boy and the little bird that payed a special visit to our home.
